Weddings

If you're planning a wedding near Seattle and want that dramatic mountain backdrop without a three-hour drive into the wilderness, Snoqualmie should be at the top of your list. We've filmed weddings all over the Pacific Northwest, and the Snoqualmie Valley consistently delivers some of the most cinematic footage we've ever captured. Here's our honest take on the best venues in the area and what you need to know from a videography perspective.

Why Snoqualmie for Your Wedding

Snoqualmie sits about 30 minutes east of Seattle, tucked right into the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. For your guests, it's close enough that nobody's complaining about the drive. For your wedding film, it feels like an entirely different world — dramatic peaks, deep green valleys, and that moody Pacific Northwest atmosphere that you just can't replicate anywhere else.

What makes Snoqualmie special from a videography standpoint is the year-round beauty. In winter, you get snow-capped peaks that create this incredible contrast against wedding whites and formal wear. In summer, the lush greenery and wildflowers turn every frame into something cinematic. The natural light filtering through the mountain valleys is genuinely different from what we work with in the city — softer, more directional, and incredibly flattering for couples on camera.

We always tell couples that choosing Snoqualmie is like getting a destination wedding feel with the convenience of staying close to Seattle. Your guests get an easy commute, and you get a mountain escape that looks absolutely stunning on film.

Salish Lodge & Spa

If there's one venue in Snoqualmie that needs no introduction, it's Salish Lodge. Perched right above Snoqualmie Falls — a 268-foot waterfall that honestly steals the show in every shot — this place is the definition of Pacific Northwest luxury. The lodge offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony options, and both are gorgeous in their own way.

From a videographer's perspective, Salish Lodge is a dream. The mist coming off the falls catches golden hour light in a way that creates these soft, ethereal backdrops you couldn't art-direct if you tried. And drone footage here? Absolutely stunning. Flying over the falls with the lodge and the ceremony in frame — it's the kind of shot that makes people rewind the wedding film three or four times. The falls also create a natural ambient sound that adds a cinematic layer to ceremony audio when mixed properly.

Best for:Couples wanting luxury and dramatic natural scenery. If you want your wedding film to have that "wow" factor before we even start editing, this is the spot.

North Fork Farm

If Salish Lodge is the grand, luxury option, North Fork Farm is the venue for couples who want something a little more laid-back — and honestly, some of our favorite wedding films have come from here. It's a rustic farm property with open meadows, a beautiful barn, and mountain views that stretch out in every direction. The whole vibe is Pacific Northwest farmhouse, and it photographs and films beautifully.

As videographers, what we love about North Fork Farm is the open landscape. We can set up with a longer lens and get these incredible compression shots where the couple is in the foreground and the Cascade Mountains fill the entire background. It creates this sense of scale that's hard to achieve at more enclosed venues. And golden hour here is something else — the warm light hits the rustic barn architecture and creates these cinematic, amber tones that look like something out of a film.

Best for: Couples wanting a relaxed, rustic celebration with incredible mountain views. If your vision includes string lights, open fields, and barefoot dancing, North Fork Farm delivers.

The Attic at Snoqualmie

The Attic is a completely different vibe from the other two venues, and that's exactly why it makes this list. It's a historic downtown venue with this unique industrial-meets-mountain-town character that you won't find anywhere else in the area. Exposed brick, warm wood tones, and large windows that let in beautiful natural light — it's an intimate space that works incredibly well for smaller weddings.

One thing we always mention to couples considering The Attic is its proximity to Snoqualmie Falls. You can easily head over for photos and video before or after the ceremony, getting that iconic waterfall backdrop without actually hosting your event outdoors. From a filming perspective, the intimate size of the space means we can capture every reaction, every whispered moment between the couple, and every laugh from the guests without missing a beat.

Best for:Couples wanting an intimate, character-filled space. If you're keeping your guest list tight and want a venue with real personality, The Attic is worth a visit.

Tips for Filming at Mountain Venues

We've learned a lot from filming in and around the Cascades over the years, and mountain venues come with their own unique set of challenges. Here are the things we always keep in mind:

Weather changes fast. We've seen blue skies turn into rain in under an hour in Snoqualmie. We always bring weather-sealed gear and have a backup plan ready for every outdoor shot. If your ceremony is outside, make sure your venue has an indoor backup — and make sure your videographer has scouted both options.

Mountain light is different. The sun sets behind the peaks earlier than you'd expect, so the "magic hours" — that golden, cinematic window — are shorter but more dramatic than in the city. Timing your ceremony and portraits around this window can make or break the footage.

Drone footage is a must. Mountain venues were made for aerial shots. The scale of the landscape, the winding rivers, the treeline — it all adds a cinematic layer that ground-level footage can't capture. Just make sure to check FAA regulations and secure any necessary permits ahead of time.

Audio near waterfalls is tricky. This is especially relevant at Salish Lodge. The sound of rushing water is beautiful in person, but it can drown out vows and speeches on camera. We always bring quality lavalier mics and a dedicated backup recorder so we never lose a single word.

Scout the venue at ceremony time. We strongly recommend visiting your venue at the same time of day as your ceremony. The way light moves through mountain valleys is completely different at 10 AM versus 4 PM, and understanding that ahead of time lets us plan our angles and gear accordingly.

Why Work with a Videographer Who Knows the Area

We've filmed throughout the Pacific Northwest for years, and understanding Snoqualmie's unique conditions is something that only comes with experience. Knowing exactly where the sun sets relative to each venue — and at what time of year — saves valuable time on wedding day and produces noticeably better results.

Local knowledge also means knowing the backup indoor options at every venue, understanding which angles work best at each location, and having relationships with venue coordinators who can help us get into position before key moments. We don't wing it — we plan every shot based on experience at these specific locations.

And because mountain weather can be unpredictable, we always bring redundant equipment. Extra cameras, extra audio recorders, weather-sealed housings — we've been caught in enough surprise rain showers to know that having a backup for everything isn't optional, it's essential.
