One Body, Both Jobs.
Most cameras make you pick a side. The Sony Alpha 1 does not. Its 50.1MP stacked full-frame sensor delivers stills at a resolution we can crop hard into or print large, and the same body records 8K 30p and 4K up to 120p. For a company that shows up to a wedding or a brand shoot expected to deliver both photo and video, that combination removes an entire body from the case.
The stacked sensor design is what makes the speed possible. It reads out fast enough to support up to 30 frames per second of continuous shooting, and it keeps rolling shutter under control on fast pans and moving subjects, which is the failure mode that ruins automotive and action footage on slower sensors.
Autofocus and the Viewfinder.
759 phase-detection points cover roughly 92 percent of the frame, and the tracking is reliable enough that we trust it on a subject walking straight at the lens. The 9.44M-dot viewfinder refreshes at up to 240 fps, which sounds like a spec-sheet flourish until you try to follow a car through a corner or a kid running down an aisle. At that refresh rate the finder feels like a window rather than a screen, and you can actually track the action instead of chasing it.
The mechanical shutter syncs flash at 1/400 sec. That gives us room to overpower Pacific Northwest daylight with strobes on a portrait or automotive setup without dragging out an ND or an HSS workaround.

Why We Bring It.
The 8K files are not something every project needs, but shooting 8K and delivering 4K gives us a clean punch-in that reads as a second camera angle. On a one-camera interview or a fast-moving event, that flexibility earns its storage cost.
Five-axis stabilization rated at 5.5 stops keeps handheld work usable, and the Alpha 1 shares the E-mount glass and color science we already run on our other Sony bodies, so it cuts together with the rest of our coverage without a fight in the grade. It is the body we bring when a single shoot has to produce a full photo gallery and a finished video, which describes a large share of the commercial and wedding work we take on across Richland, Seattle, Spokane, and Portland.
